Overview
Aimilios Koronaios, LL.M (mult.), CIPP/E/US, CIPM, CIPT, FIP, CompTIA ITF+, is an attorney at law (before the Supreme Court) with experience mainly in the area of Personal Data Protection. His research interests also include issues of artificial intelligence, robotics, new technologies and surveillance.
He provides legal advice on Data Protection laws and regulations as well as Data Protection Officer services.
He has been accepted to the Pool of Experts of the Council of Europe Data Protection Unit (since 2022) and to the Support Pool of Experts of the European Data Protection Board (since 2022).
He has been a member of the Standing Research Committee of the Hellenic Ministry of Justice “on monitoring developments and the legal framework for the protection of personal data, and submitting proposals for legislative initiatives in view of new technologies” (2020-2023). He has also been a Research Associate of the Hellenic Parliament (2015-2018).
He regularly writes on issues related to personal data, cybercrime and artificial intelligence in the newspaper “Estia”, in which he is responsible for the column “Collection of Personal Data” (since 2020).
Education:
He completed his undergraduate studies at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens [Upper-Second Class Honors]. He holds postgraduate degrees from the Law School of the University of Aberdeen (LL.M. in Private International Law [Distinction]), and the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (LL.M. in International Law and Legal Studies: Private International and Comparative Law [First-Class Honours]).
He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe (CIPP/E) (2021), a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) (2022), a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) (2023) and a Certified Information Privacy Professional / United States (CIPP/US) (2023) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He is also a Certified CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) (2023) from the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional / Canada (CIPP/C) candidate from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as well as a Certified CompTIA A+ (Plus) candidate from the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
Memberships:
He is a member of the Athens Bar Association and a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) (2023) of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He is also the Alumni Ambassador of the University of Aberdeen in Athens (since 2019) and a member of the Greek Red Cross.
